You start the story.
Someone else continues it.

Write down a thought, a memory, a feeling, or an experience. Give your story a unique Story ID and pass it to someone else. They add their own chapter, and pass it on again.

How it works

A story only needs one person to begin.

01

Start something

You have a thought, a memory, an experience, or simply something you want to share. Write it down and start your story.

02

Get your Story ID

Your story gets a unique ID. This ID is what connects all the chapters as your story travels from person to person.

03

Pass it on

Put the Story ID on a postcard, a book, a letter, a gift, a text message, or anything you want. Send it to someone.

04

They add a chapter

The person who receives it enters the Story ID and writes their own chapter - something your story made them feel, remember, or think about.

05

They pass it on

They write the same Story ID on something and send it to someone else. And the story continues.

Here's what it might look like

One thought can become many different stories.

Story: Memories

“Today I walked past the house I grew up in. I hadn't been there in 20 years. For a moment, I could almost picture myself riding my old bicycle up the driveway after school.”

— The person who started the story
Chapter 1

“That reminded me of my grandmother's house. I haven't thought about it in years. I suddenly remembered the smell of her kitchen and the way she always had something warm waiting for us.”

— The next person
Chapter 2

“Your story made me remember the summer I spent living with my grandparents... I was only twelve, but I still remember those long evenings sitting outside and listening to them tell stories about their lives.”

— Someone else
Where will it go next?

Pass it on however you want.

The Story ID can travel with almost anything. A physical object, a message, or a post. The story keeps moving.

What can you write?

There are no rules. Write whatever the story makes you think about.

A memory

Something from your past that came back to you.

A feeling

Something the story made you feel.

An experience

Something that happened to you.

A place

Somewhere the story reminded you of.

A thought

Something you suddenly found yourself thinking about.

Your own story

Something completely different that the story sparked.

You know where your story begins. You don't know where it will go.

Start with one thought. See how far it travels.
